Agenda

September 25 - 27, 2011
Foley Senior Counsel Nathaniel (Nate) Lacktman will be a speaker at the 2011 Health 2.0 Conference in San Francisco, California on September 25, 2011. Mr. Lacktman's presentation will be at the Health Law 2.0 Workshop, where he will be discussing "Motivating Patients with Incentives, Not Inducements or Kickbacks."

A cornerstone of many marketing and business development activities for Health 2.0 companies (such as those in the health technology or health information sector) is using the Web as a tool to improve patient outcomes and health. Yet, there are a number of governmental and private payer rules restricting and prohibiting certain incentive arrangements, particularly those akin to inducements or kickbacks. During the presentation, attendees will understand the landscape of these laws and rules, as well as engage in group discussions of fact-specific problems and situations. Attendees will also learn solutions for mitigating risk and how to address government and payer concerns.

The Health Law 2.0 Workshop addresses pressing legal issues facing both large and small organizations working in Health 2.0 as innovative health technologies have enabled greater consumer access and control. The workshop is an opportunity for business leaders and legal counsel from health care companies to understand the latest regulations and discuss possible solutions to potential roadblocks to better care and business growth. Health 2.0’s original tag line of ‘user-generated healthcare’ reflects how patients are using new tools to guide their own care, and how those tools are starting to integrate with health care systems. Doctors, patients, and health care organizations are starting to use a new generation of online and mobile technologies which will change the way health care works. The Health 2.0 Conference is a showcase of cutting-edge technologies in health care, including online communities and lightweight tools for consumers to manage their health and connect to providers online.
