Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) continue to grow in numbers and in popularity across the country. There are currently nearly 450 organizations serving over 8 million Medicare beneficiaries participating as an ACO in one of three models designed and implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As ACO options expand, so do the opportunities and implications for skilled nursing providers looking to partner with them. In this session Ms. Bortniker will walk through the evolution of provider risk-sharing models, placing a special emphasis on the new Next Generation ACO model, which seeks to give providers even more tools to manage the care of their aligned beneficiaries. The session will also discuss national trends and the impact ACOs are having on the management and utilization of post-acute care services. And finally, the speaker will provide an overview of new ACO-related resources available to AHCA/NCAL members.
