Dr. Rachel Utterback is a Patent Scientist in the Intellectual Property Department with Foley & Lardner LLP. Rachel is based in the firm’s Dallas office where she is a member of the Chemical, Biotech & Pharmaceutical Practice Group.

Prior to joining Foley, Rachel worked as a Technology Specialist and Science Advisor where she drafted patent applications for filing domestically and internationally, drafted responses to Office Actions, and performed patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis. She has experience with a wide range of technologies including small molecule pharmaceuticals, antibody therapeutics, mRNA technologies, chemical sensors, polymers, battery materials, and catalytic materials.

Rachel’s doctorate focus was on the design, synthesis, and biological characterization of iron prochelators to target the iron metabolism of cancer.
