Kate M. Throo is a senior counsel and litigation attorney with Foley & Lardner LLP. She represents clients in a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters and regulatory investigations and enforcement matters. Her practice is focused on representing companies and individuals in connection with investigations and proceedings by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). Kate is a member of the firm’s Securities Enforcement & Litigation, and Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practices.
Kate has experience with representation of accounting firms and their partners in enforcement proceedings before the SEC and PCAOB, defense of major financial institutions in investor lawsuits and trustee litigation, and internal and government investigations. Kate also has diverse experience with complex commercial litigation in federal and state court.
Prior to joining Foley, Kate served as a law clerk to the Honorable Susan C. Bucklew and to the Honorable James S. Moody, Jr., both of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in Tampa, Florida. She also worked as a litigation associate with Mayer Brown LLP in New York, NY, where her practice concentrated on securities litigation, complex commercial litigation, and white collar matters.
Kate earned her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D., 2010). She received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia (B.A., 2006).
Kate is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
