Ronald Eppen Named a 2022 ‘Northeast Trailblazer’ by The American Lawyer

Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Ronald Eppen was named to the 2022 “Northeast Trailblazers” list by The American Lawyer. The special supplement honors lawyers in the Northeast region of the United States who have moved the needle in the legal industry and are truly agents of change who have made significant marks on practice, policy, and technological advancements in their areas of legal practice.

Eppen was recognized for his work as an early adaptor into the cannabis practice space. As a co-chair of Foley’s Cannabis Industry Team, he helped build a multi-disciplinary, transaction-focused practice that provides legal services to brand name national and international cannabis clients. He applied the skillset he developed in representing life sciences, technology, and financial services through all phases of their life cycle to advising cannabis sector clients through initial organization and capitalization, growth through acquisitions, capital markets events, and dispositions of non-core assets.

When asked about his path to becoming a trailblazer, Eppen told The American Lawyer that he “first got involved with the cannabis industry in late 2013” and “Foley’s first transaction for an entity in the cannabis space… involved an integrated team of our corporate, tax, and employment law attorneys” that “demonstrated the strength of the multidisciplinary approach that a large national law firm can provide for clients in an emerging industry.”
