Foley Partners Lawrence Vernaglia and Mark Waxman spoke on “Massachusetts as a Model – State Legislation and Conflicts of Interest for Pharmaceutical and Device Manufacturers” for the Center for Business Intelligence (CBI) Web conference on December 3, 2008.
Legislative bodies continue to address concerns raised by perceived conflicts of interest between pharmaceutical and device manufacturers and health care practitioners. Recently Massachusetts adopted its own version and included a clear ban on meals and gifts and called for the adoption of a strong marketing code.
This program addressed that overall effort, using Massachusetts as a model, and consider the likelihood of federal action behind it.
