Technology has made more information about employees available to employers. Technology also is used by employees to communicate about the employer and other employees. The law is struggling to catch up with the privacy concerns in the employment environment posed by these advancements. This seminar explored the intersection of privacy and employment law, including in the areas of genetic testing and other medical information, employee monitoring and searches, the use of social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, and identity and data theft. The presentation offered practical tips to employers navigating in these emerging areas.
