Foley Partner Kevin Schulz was a guest speaker at the University of Texas Sport Management Club’s virtual meeting on October 19, 2021. Schulz spoke to the student group about what it means to be a sports lawyer and provided insights into developments in the sports industry, including M&A deals for teams, TV and streaming deals, and the burgeoning trend of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) in sports.
Schulz is co-chair of the firm’s Sports & Entertainment Group and is a member of the NFT Task Force and NIL Task Force (name, image, likeness). His practice focuses in the areas of mergers and acquisitions and commercial transactions, including in the professional and collegiate sports industry, and he routinely advises sports clients in the sale and acquisition of professional sports franchises, licensing arrangements, promotional and advertising agreements, sponsorship and naming rights agreements, joint ventures, ticketing arrangements, stadium and arena service agreements, and television, radio, and media rights agreements.
