The Dallas Morning News recently reached out to Gardere's Peter Vogel to discuss the prevalence of privacy concerns with regard to social media. According to Mr. Vogel, "Because social media users almost never read the terms of service and privacy policies, they have no idea that they are licensing the sites to free, unfettered use of photographs, email addresses, names and contact information that they intended for personal friends, children and neighbors."
Mr. Vogel is a litigation partner at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, where he is chair of the Electronic Discovery Group and chair of the Internet, eCommerce and Technology Industry Team. Before practicing law, Mr. Vogel was a systems programmer on mainframes, received a masters in computer science and taught graduate courses in information systems and operations research.
