Gardere Represents Assistant District Attorney Palmer in Free Speech Retaliation Claim
Law360 covered U.S. District Judge Lynn N. Hughes' dismissal of claims brought against Harris County District Attorney Patricia Lykos and Assistant District Attorney Rachel Palmer individually by Amanda Culbertson and Jorge Wong. Ms. Culertson and Mr. Wong filed suit last year arguing that Ms. Lykos and Ms. Palmer engaged in a campaign to silence and harm their professional reputations and future job prospects after they raised concerns about the Houston Police Department's breath alcohol testing program. Relying on the Texas Citizens' Participation Act, Judge Hughes ruled that the act applied to the state law claims asserted against Ms. Lykos and Ms. Palmer individually, and also dismissed all of plaintiffs' other claims against Palmer, Lykos and Harris County.
Ms. Palmer was represented by Gardere Litigation Partners Katharine D. (Kate) David, Mike Seely and T. Michael Wall.
