Peter Vogel Discusses Snapchat Data Breach with E-Commerce Times

E-Commerce Times discussed the recent Snapchat data breach with Gardere Partner Peter S. Vogel. Mr. Vogel, who chairs the Firm's Internet, eCommerce and Technology Industry Team, pointed out that the resulting dissemination of what could be nude photos of minors adds another wrinkle to the breach. This particular hack also exposes others to prosecution under child pornography laws, Mr. Vogel said. "Assuming the person who posted the photos is an adult, he could be prosecuted not only under those laws but also because he broke Snapchat's terms of service, which no doubt required users to promise not to use the service for anything illegal."
