Foley has achieved a 100 percent ranking on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
Foley’s top rating was based on several firm initiatives including:
- Benefits for domestic partners and transgender employees
- Retirement benefits for same-sex partners
- Comprehensive health care coverage for transgender employees
- Providing pro bono work specific to LGBT-related issues
- LGBTA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies) Affinity Group
The firm’s LGBTA Affinity Group provides a forum for attorneys to address issues of equality in the legal profession. The group is open to all attorneys and staff who work to ensure that diversity efforts also represent the needs and interests of LGBT attorneys at Foley.
“We are very proud to be recognized by HRC for the programs and policies Foley has implemented to ensure inclusion and equality of all of our LGBT attorneys, assistants, paralegals and staff. Our allies within the firm also provide invaluable input and support for our equality efforts,” said Jack Lord, co-chair of Foley’s LGBTA Affinity Group. “We strive to recruit and retain the most talented LGBT professionals; provide pro bono services to worthy LGBT causes, support LGBT charitable organizations; and promote diversity and inclusion in our workplace.”
The firm ranked among 407 U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year. For more information on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index, or to download a copy of the full report, visit the Corporate Equality Index website.
