Belveal, Uetz Named to Crain’s Detroit Notable Women Lawyers

Partners Jennifer Belveal and Ann Marie Uetz have been named to Crain’s Detroit Business’ inaugural Notable Women Lawyers list. This recognition honors women lawyers who set legal precedents, manage high-profile cases, serve on community boards and mentor colleagues.
Belveal, a trial lawyer who advises high-profile clients across an array of industries, has handled more than 50 trials, arbitrations and preliminary examinations throughout her career. She also regularly leads internal investigations and responds to grand jury subpoenas. Belveal is also active in the Detroit metropolitan area, serving on the board of trustees for Detroit Public Television and previously serving on the board of directors for the Canton Community Foundation and Giving Hope Women’s Giving Circle. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, where she served as the co-chair of the Pro Bono Initiative of the Committee on Justice Initiatives; the Oakland County Bar Association, where she served on the Executive Committee; the Michigan State Bar Foundation; and the Oakland County Bar Foundation.
Uetz, a trial lawyer who represents clients in the manufacturing industry on matters involving contracts, business disputes, financing and restructuring, is a founder and co-chair of Foley’s Automotive Crisis Response Team, which represents more than 100 automotive suppliers and was recognized by Chambers USA as a 2017 leading national practice. In addition, she is a former chair of Foley’s Litigation Department and former vice chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations Practice, which was recognized by Bankruptcy Law360 as one of the top 10 bankruptcy practices in the nation. She also previously served on the board of the Michigan Network for International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Uetz does pro bono work for Affirmations, a non-profit that promotes the empowerment of the Detroit metropolitan LGBT community. She is also committed to mentoring younger attorneys and has received Foley’s Carl Hitchner Mentor of the Year award.
