Partner Judith Waltz was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article, “Medicare Enrollment Ban Hastens Home Health Closures,” about a rise in the number of home-health agencies closing their doors due to a multi-year ban on new Medicare enrollments in four states.
Despite the ban, which was put in place because of a high risk of fraud and abuse, home-health fraud continues to thrive in those four states, Waltz said. “For home health, not only is it sometimes unclear what or how the service is being provided, but there are also beneficiaries who have been wrongly certified as being eligible for home health,” she said.
