Lacktman Comments on New CPT Code for Remote Patient Monitoring

Partner Nate Lacktman was quoted in an mHealth Intelligence article, “CMS Tweaks CPT Code for Remote Monitoring, Giving mHealth a Boost,” about a new CPT code for remote patient monitoring that gives providers more leeway to use telehealth for chronic care management and coordination.
Lacktman said the new code amounts to a technical correction of the 2019 Physician Fee Schedule, which said that remote physiologic monitoring treatment management services could not be conducted by auxiliary personnel incident to a practitioner’s professional services. Now they can. “This is a welcome revision long-awaited by telehealth providers,” he said.
