Partner Nate Lacktman was quoted in an mHealth Intelligence article, “Arizona’s New Telemedicine Law Expands Coverage, Adds Platforms,” about a new Arizona law that improves payer coverage for telehealth and adds store-and-forward and remote patient monitoring platforms to the list of approved services.
Lacktman said Arizona’s old telehealth coverage law contained a number of restrictions that confused practitioners and ultimately prevented patients from enjoying meaningful insurance coverage of services delivered via telehealth. Its new law, which the firm’s Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team helped draft, incorporated a number of best practices from other states, he said.
“A number of other state legislatures are considering similar amendments to their current telehealth coverage laws in order to close these perceived loopholes and give patients and healthcare providers clarity on what medical services are (and are not) covered when delivered via telehealth,” he added.
