Havlik Discusses Wills for Heroes Program’s Switch to Virtual Clinics

Of Counsel Kris Havlik was quoted in a Wisconsin Law Journal article, “Wills for Heroes goes virtual, offers more services during pandemic,” about how the coronavirus pandemic has forced the state’s Wills for Heroes program to switch from in-person to virtual clinics.

When the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of in-person clinics, Havlik, the program’s organizer, decided to take the clinics virtual. She said first responders are not only grateful to still have the service, but appreciate “having a lot more time to absorb what their documents are saying and to ask questions, and I think that has been good, too.”

The virtual format has also allowed volunteers to help more people in more ways, she said, adding that meeting online or by phone eliminates the time and travel constraints that come with meeting in person.
