Milwaukee Senior Counsel Rachel Blise has been named a judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article, “Milwaukee lawyer named as bankruptcy judge.”
She will replace Brett Ludwig, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court last year by former President Donald Trump.
Blise graduated from Carthage College and earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School. She clerked for Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Carolyn Dineen King before joining Foley, where she is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practices. Blise has experience in a range of complex commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, antitrust litigation, and class action defense, as well as in the areas of insolvency, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights.
Bankruptcy judges serve 14-year terms.
