Andy Lee Gives Insight into High-Profile Entertainment Contract Disputes on Dan Abrams Live
Foley & Lardner LLP of counsel Andy Lee appeared on the NewsNation TV show “Dan Abrams Live” for an interview discussing high-profile entertainment contract disputes.
During the live broadcast, Lee was asked for his perspective on the contract dispute involving Fox News and their former media personality Tucker Carlson, and the allegation by Carlson that his firing from the network was a consequence of its defamation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, a claim denied by both companies.
“From a company perspective as an employer, you do not delegate your employment decisions to a third party, whether it’s in a settlement or otherwise,” Lee commented. “It puts you at risk of potential liability, there could be contract issues with your employee, it could lead to wrongful termination charges, and by the way, it’s not good for employee morale.”
“Companies want to make their decisions about their employees themselves,” Lee added.
