Lynn Gandhi Named 2023 Tax Law Trailblazer by The National Law Journal
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Lynn Gandhi was named to the 2023 “Tax Law Trailblazers” list by The National Law Journal. This recognition honors tax lawyers who have moved the needle in the legal industry and are truly agents of change, making significant marks on practice, policy, and technological advancements in their areas of legal practice.
Gandhi was recognized for her significant work on multistate tax planning, including her transactional support on the multistate implications of mergers and acquisitions.
As a member of Foley’s Tax, Benefits & Estate Planning Practice Group, Gandhi advises clients on sophisticated tax planning opportunities, manages complex audits, and offers transactional support, including the defense of post-closing indemnity and escrow claims related to pre-closing liabilities and the use of voluntary disclosure programs to mitigate such claims. Gandhi is also a registered lobbyist, representing clients in legislative and policy initiatives across multiple industry platforms.
When asked about her trailblazing legal journey, Gandhi told The National Law Journal, “I was fortunate to follow in the footsteps of my mentor who recognized the increasing importance that state and local taxes would have as businesses diversified and found themselves active across jurisdictions. This required a new type of tax practitioner who, similar to an international tax practice, could juggle the often inconsistent policies and practices across states.
“In the last 20 years, state and local tax has moved from a state-specific specialty to a top-tier area of practice,” she added.
