Nikhil Pradhan Discusses How Government Regulation Could Bring Clarity to AI Arena
Foley & Lardner LLP senior counsel Nikhil Pradhan is quoted in the Agenda article, “Boards Should Watch for ‘No-Brainer’ AI Regulations,” offering insight on government regulation of artificial intelligence technologies.
Although some companies may be resistant to AI regulations, Pradhan said others may view regulation as a means of providing clarity in an ambiguous area.
“Government regulation could act as a safety beacon for businesses cautiously stepping into the AI landscape,” he explained, suggesting that AI regulations could allow companies to fully understand the innovation boundaries within which they can freely operate.
“Take, for instance, the companies planning to acquire AI solutions from third-party providers to enhance their own customer offerings,” Pradhan said. “These companies could substantially benefit from a regulatory environment that provides a level of assurance, enabling them to implement these solutions with a diminished risk profile.”
