Aaron Tantleff on Privacy Sandbox Promise – 'May not be so privacy fool-proof'
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Aaron Tantleff commented on Google’s decision to step back from its plan to cut its Chrome web browser off from third-party tracking tools in the Bloomberg Law article, “Google’s Cookie Pivot Eases Ad Concerns, Fuels Privacy Dilemma.”
Discussing the Privacy Sandbox, a Google-led initiative that relies on a variety of new techniques the company said are intended to enhance users’ online privacy, Tantleff explained that some of its methods may not be so privacy fool-proof.
“Maybe when it was first envisioned there was a possibility that it could preserve privacy. I don’t know,” Tantleff added. “But I can tell you now, I find it very difficult to believe that privacy would be able to be preserved as the product was envisioned.”
