Kyle Hayes Appears on Live Broadcast to Talk Future of Energy
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Kyle Hayes appeared on Nasdaq TradeTalks to share insight on the future of energy transition and climate technology investments.
Hayes joined energy industry leaders Tony Perrotta, Sustainability & Regenerative Economy Expert at PA Consulting, and Brian Nelson, Renewables Segment Leader at ABB, in conversation on the ongoing evolution of the energy industry.
“The diversification of the energy mix is going to be really, really important, and the timing associated with supply is also really important – in terms of the different timelines associated with different asset classes and different technologies,” Hayes said. He described the varying timelines for different energy projects, highlighting the localized aspect of permitting and the importance of interconnection for any kind of energy project penetration.
“I think the regulatory landscape is going to have to play ball with industry,” Hayes said when asked about the industry’s regulatory outlook. “The regulatory landscape has to move commensurate with the industry as we go along the path of trying to diversify our energy mix and also trying to make sure that we have enough supply for demand.”
Hayes also touched on the complex challenges utility companies are facing as they move to meet the demands of the electrical grid while navigating competing regulatory constraints, growing consolidation among project developers, and the new challenges posed by the emergent needs of AI data centers.
