Join Us for a Wide-Ranging Discussion of Trump Administration Tariffs and How to Risk Plan for Them
Over the last two months, the Trump administration has issued over a dozen new forms of tariffs, including global 10% tariffs, reciprocal tariffs of up to 50%, special China tariffs of up to 170%, and sectoral tariffs on automotive, steel, and aluminum products — with more tariffs on pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and critical mineral products to come. To help manage these unprecedented tariff and international trade risks, the Foley International Trade and Supply Chain practices will present a comprehensive three-part “Tariff Blitz” webinar to cover all aspects of these tariffs, as follows:
- Update on Status — Where Are We Now on the Trump Tariffs and What Risks Do They Pose?: Greg Husisian, chair of the Foley International Trade Team, and John Turlais, of counsel, will provide an overview of the current status of the various tariff proposals, how the tariffs interact and stack, the likely final status of each type of tariff, and a twelve-step plan to help importers cope with the tariffs.
- Lobbying and Contractual Provisions as Coping Mechanisms for the New Trump Tariffs: Katie Schoettler, director, Public Affairs, and Kate Wegrzyn and Vanessa Miller, co-chairs of the Foley Supply Chain Team, will focus on two particular coping mechanisms relevant to companies impacted by these new tariffs: lobbying and preparation for potential exclusions, as well as strategies for managing contractual issues for both buy- and sell-side purchasing and sales arrangements.
- Customs Compliance: Challenges in the New Tariff Environment: In the new high-tariff, high-penalty environment, Customs compliance is more critical than ever. Greg Husisian, John Turlais, and Mary Cagle, a former auditor at U.S. Customs and currently the senior director of Consulting Services at Copper Hill, will focus on outlining how the new tariff environment requires importers to completely reevaluate how they run their import operations, as well as best practices for managing customs compliance in the new era.
