Peter Stockburger Highlights AI Adoption and Risk Management in San Diego Business Journal Panel
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Peter Stockburger joined a San Diego Business Journal panel discussion on the opportunities, challenges, and risks associated with enterprise AI adoption.
In the article, “Corporate AI Adoption Should Have Clear Objectives, Guardrails,” Stockburger highlighted the future potential of next-generation AI technologies and the importance of balancing innovation with responsible governance.
“That’s the space that’s the most exciting,” he said, discussing emerging AI technologies that can understand laws of physics and spatial intelligence. Stockburger emphasized these advancements have the potential to “revolutionize robotics, surgery, autonomous driving” and drive “a huge business impact.”
Addressing the challenges of deploying generative AI, he noted that “these tools are unpredictable” and “tough to implement at scale.” “You have to be thinking about the risk that’s in front of you,” Stockburger added.
He advised “the most important step executive leaders can take is to embrace AI innovation rather than shy away from it, while establishing a clear governance framework that reflects the organization’s risk tolerance. This means building tailored policies that set guardrails without stifling experimentation.”
