Block Quoted on Recent Spate of Ransomware Attacks

Associate Edward (Eddie) Block was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article, “How One Texas County Stopped a Ransomware Attack,” about how a combination of training, resources and luck can thwart a ransomware attack on a local government’s computer system.
Block said municipalities are generally less prepared for such an attack than companies because they have limited resources and are increasingly reliant on aging computer systems to deliver city services. “Historically, cities haven’t been particularly well funded in terms of IT and IT security,” he said. “They have proven to be an attractive target for attacks.”
