Peter Vogel Discusses Cybersecurity Topics to Watch for in 2017 With Law360

Gardere partner Peter S. Vogel, co-chair of the firm’s cybersecurity and privacy legal services team, spoke with Law360 about the cybersecurity issues to watch for at the state level for the remainder of 2017. According to the article, New York is a state to watch carefully. Earlier this year, the state enacted first-of-its-kind cybersecurity rules that require banks, insurers and other institutions to develop detailed data security programs and report breaches within 72 hours.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if more states put the burden of responsibility on companies to avoid disasters if there's a cyber intrusion," Vogel said.
