Foley represented the Milwaukee Admirals, an American Hockey League team, in its relocation from the BMO Harris Bradley Center to UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The 10-year lease (with a 5-year mutually agreed-upon option), which was negotiated with the Wisconsin Center District (WCD) over several months, will be effective starting in the 2016-17 season. The move will provide more concession and merchandise revenue and better playing dates for the Admirals going forward. As part of the lease, both the WCD and the Admirals will also invest significant capital into the building. Over the next three years, $6.3 million will be invested in arena upgrades.
With the new lease, which helps secure the team’s long-term future in downtown Milwaukee, the Admirals become the Arena’s largest tenant, hosting 36 to 38 regular season home games per year, plus possible playoff games.
The Admirals previously played at the Panther Arena (formerly known as MECCA Arena), during the mid-1970s through the late 1980s and are embracing the return to the Arena.
The Foley team was led by Partner and Sports Industry Team Vice-Chair Kevin Schulz and included Partner and Sports Industry Team Co-Chair Irwin Raij. More information on the relocation efforts can be found here and here.
