Foley Appoints Ed Burbach as Austin Office Managing Partner
Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Edward D. (“Ed”) Burbach has been named managing partner of the firm’s Austin office. Burbach also serves as chair of Foley’s Government Solutions Practice Group, co-chair of the firm’s State Attorneys General Practice Group, and Corporate Law Chair for the Austin office.
Burbach assumes the office managing partner role after the recent passing of Kim Yelkin, who opened the Austin office in 2002 and served in the position for the last 20 years.

As office managing partner, Burbach will focus on strategically growing the Austin office, expanding Foley’s presence in the local market, and continuing to steward community involvement.

About Ed Burbach
Burbach joined Foley in 2007. As a focused investigations and litigation lawyer, he represents corporations, individuals, and governmental entities in matters involving local, state, and federal governments – with emphasis on state attorneys general and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). He gained his unique experience through personally handling significant investigations and litigation as both a leading state regulator/enforcer and in private practice.
Appointed by now-Texas Governor Greg Abbott as his original deputy attorney general for litigation, Burbach served as Texas’ lead litigator and directly supervised all of Attorney General Abbott’s 11 civil litigation divisions including 250 attorneys, over 600 employees and a $35 million budget. Burbach also served as Texas’ main litigation liaison with the National Association of Attorneys General during Attorney General Abbott’s first and second terms.
Over the past three decades, he has handled Unfair & Deceptive Acts & Practices (“UDAP”), Medicaid fraud, FTC, price gouging, FOIA/State Public Information Act litigation, and attorney general opinions. Burbach also has over 30 years of experience litigating significant government, pharmaceutical, health care provider, retailer, direct sales/multi-level marketing companies, insurance, energy, maritime, financial services, corporate, multistate, and class action claims.
Burbach earned his JD, BBA, and BA from the University of Texas at Austin.
