Foley’s support for the SAP Startup ecosystem goes far beyond legal services. Our attorneys provide invaluable insight and practical mentoring that is crucial to early startups.
Our presence across the United States and in Asia and Europe provides an extensive networking platform for connecting startups like yours to the resources you seek and need.
We are, first and foremost, mentors. Why? Quite frankly, we have a passion for startups and are interested in fostering the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Our attorneys are more than legal services providers; we are trusted business advisors and have been so to thousands of clients across many different industries. We understand your technology, your business, and the marketplace in which you operate. So when we reach out to a startup like yours, we are looking to offer you our complimentary non-legal mentoring services, honed by real-world experience in the trials and tribulations of startup companies.
As a mentor to your startup, we help foster your own personal and business network by making introductions to our vast network of Foley attorneys, other mentors, non-legal service providers, boards of directors, advisors, potential partners, customers, and funding sources. As our mentor relationship grows, we learn more about the context and strategy of your company, and can suggest additional helpful resources.
However, we do not stop at introductions. Our proprietary Private Equity MatchmakerSM tool connects companies looking for funding to our vast network of venture capital, private equity, angel investors, and other funding sources for potential matches and introductions. With Private Equity Matchmaker, we can target those funding sources that are most appropriate for you and more likely to have interest.
To demonstrate our commitment to fostering the startup ecosystem, we also go beyond making introductions to funding sources — we put our money on the table as well. We launched Foley Ventures to have the ability to invest in or alongside clients. For startup or emerging companies, the fund will invest if the company receives a simultaneous investment from a professionally managed venture fund or angel fund and if with both investments adequate cash flow for one year is projected.
Foley is regularly recognized for providing exceptional legal and client service. As a result, many of the startup companies we mentor who become clients may also qualify for our startup and accelerator packages, a mix of fee deferred legal services designed to get a company started and to a funding stage.
