Foley Partner Nathaniel Lacktman, Chair of the firm’s Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team, along with fellow Foley Health Care Practice Group Partners Chris Donovan, Jana Kolarik, and Roger Strode, will be presenters at the American Corporate Counsel (ACC) Annual Meeting in Phoenix on October 27-30, 2019.
Nathaniel’s presentation will be on Monday, October 28, and is titled, “Telemedicine and Telehealth: The Future is Now.” As costs increase and resources and locations needed to deliver quality health care continue to gain complexity, telemedicine and telehealth are rapidly emerging solutions showing promise as alternatives to traditional health care delivery. A 2018 survey of health care executives reveals almost 75 percent of organizations currently offer, or plan to offer, these services, whereas just three years ago, nearly 87 percent of health care organizations were unsure or skeptical of this technology. This intermediate/advanced session will provide an informative discussion regarding the evolution and provision of telemedicine health services, such as state licensure requirements for providers of these services; criteria for establishing practitioner–patient relationships via telehealth technologies; accepted modalities for delivery of telehealth services; coverage and reimbursement issues; CMS terminology and questions CMS still considering; other proposed “telehealth” services in physician fee schedule; and other pending telehealth legislation.
