Gardere Client Wins Chapter 15 Bid in Bankruptcy Case

17 June 2014 News

Law360 covered a Texas federal bankruptcy judge's approval of Japan-based bitcoin exchange, Mt. Gox, in its petition for Chapter 15 bankruptcy. This decision will provide the exchange some protection in United States court while it continues its primary insolvency proceedings in Tokyo court.

Mt. Gox filed its U.S. bankruptcy petition in March, needing to halt two pending lawsuits in the U.S. while it sorted out its financial affairs through its main bankruptcy proceeding in Tokyo.

Gardere Attorneys Marcus Helt and Thomas C. Scannell represented Nobuaki Kobayashi, Mt. Gox's foreign representative. Mt. Gox's foreign representative is also represented by a team of attorneys from Brown Rudnick LLP in New York, NY.
