The Hub Reports on Gardere’s 25th Annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition

Dallas Independent School District's publication, The Hub, featured the 25th Annual Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition, co-presented by DISD. Sierra Jones, a fifth-grade student from Charles Rice Learning Center, placed first in the competition.

Fourth- and fifth-grade students representing 25 elementary schools from across the district presented original speeches answering the question, “If Dr. King were alive today, what would he say about Muhammad Ali’s contribution to society?” Students were judged on their delivery, stage presence, content interpretation and memorization.
