Foley Partner Melinda Levitt and Associate Leeann Habte authored an article titled "California's e-discovery rules: US and non-US impact" in the September 9, 2009 issue of Data Protection Law & Policy. The authors discuss California e-discovery rules implemented to provide guidance on the collection, preservation and production of electronic documents and the impact that the rules will have in the United States and Abroad. They note that while large corporations generally have sophisticated computer networks and information policies, smaller businesses now subject to the e-discovery rules may have to grapple with the technical limitations of their information systems.
