Overview

As a registered patent attorney, Michael Dubner focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, particularly emphasizing patent, trademark and copyright procurement, litigation, licensing and counseling. Corporate, individual and institutional clients seek Michael’s business-oriented approach to protect, enforce and license their intellectual property rights, as well as develop, manage and procure patent and trademark portfolios around the globe.

Michael regularly counsels clients regarding the avoidance of third party intellectual property rights by identifying such rights, giving opinions concerning non-infringement and validity, and counseling clients with respect to non-infringing alternatives.  He works with clients to identify patentable inventions to protect such inventions by preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the United States and abroad.

Additionally, Michael counsels clients in all aspects of trademark protection. He assists clients with trademark clearance and his trademark practice encompasses domestic and international prosecution, portfolio development, management and licensing. Michael also regularly counsels clients in IP rights transactions, including structuring and negotiating business transactions involving the sale and licensing of those rights.

Michael's practice also includes representing clients in litigation matters relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and domain name disputes, as well as representing and defending clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Michael puts his mechanical engineering training to use by representing clients in matters involving oil and gas technology, manufacturing, medical devices, renewable energy, computer hardware, computer software, internet, technology and a wide array of consumer devices.

Michael serves as Dallas Office Chair for Intellectual Property.
