Evan Hellman is a senior counsel and a member of Foley & Lardner LLP’s Health Care Practice Group and national Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team. Evan is based in the New York office.
Prior to joining Foley & Lardner, LLP, Evan served as general counsel for Vault Health, Inc. In this role, he served as the company’s chief legal advisor, counseling the CEO and other C-suite executive team members, the Board of Directors, and downstream departmental stakeholders across the company on all legal issues including regulatory and transactional matters, employment, real estate, government contracting, and strategic opportunities.
Evan has experience providing transactional and regulatory advice to various types of health care clients including health-tech start-ups, major academic medical centers, community hospitals, nursing homes, physician groups and other entities on matters involving telemedicine and digital health operations, corporate practice of medicine compliance, scope of practice rules, licensing, permitting and change of ownership issues, fraud and abuse compliance, and HIPAA. Evan also advises clients on the development and operationalization of new business initiatives, corporate governance matters, and transactional matters including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic affiliations.
Evan was also an associate in the health care practice groups of two additional law firms, working out of the firms’ New York City offices. Prior to starting his law career, Evan was a staff member with the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, under Senator Herb Kohl, Chairman.
