Overview

Matthew G. McBride is a partner and corporate lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP based in the firm’s Boston office.

Matt is a member of the Fund Formation and Investment Management Practice and represents clients in a broad range of transactions, with a focus on representation of investment managers in all aspects of their business, with a particular emphasis on the establishment of private investment funds, structuring of management company and in-house arrangements, portfolio investment activities, fund raising, co-investment transactions, joint ventures, restructurings, succession and separation arrangements and regulatory, compliance and governance matters. Matt has counseled both U.S. and non-U.S. sponsors of private equity funds pursuing a wide variety of strategies, including buyout, growth equity, private credit, venture capital and fund of funds and secondaries. These sponsors have ranged from first-time/spin-out and emerging managers to some of the largest and best-known sponsors of private equity funds.

Matt’s experience also includes representing institutional investors in connection with their investments in private investment funds, co-investments and secondary transactions, as well as representing family offices in connection with structuring their investment vehicles, executive compensation plans and carried interest vehicles.

Prior to joining Foley, Matt was a partner in the corporate department and a member of the private investment funds group at another international law firm.
