Michelle E.P. Nuñez is a partner and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. She counsels institutional investors, unregistered funds, including hedge funds and private equity funds, and their advisers on a range of U.S. legal and regulatory matters relating to fund investments, the structuring, restructuring and formation of funds, fund reorganizations, acquisitions and mergers, regulatory and compliance matters relating to existing funds, fund governance issues and investment adviser compliance. Michelle also advises impact investors on the legal and regulatory issues surrounding launching private funds that focus on achieving social benefit as well as financial returns. She is a member of the Private Equity & Venture Capital and Transactional & Securities Practices.
Michelle has co-lead regular seminars on U.S. legal and regulatory issues relevant to UK-based investment advisers and private funds. She has conducted training on U.S. regulatory issues relevant to fund lawyers in Europe and the Middle East. She is also a co-author of “The Bespoke Solution—Advantages and Challenges in Tailoring Single Investor Funds,” Bloomberg BNA Pension & Benefits Daily, August 28, 2015.
Prior to joining Foley, Michelle's work, as a member of a team, was recognized as American Lawyer’s Pro Bono Deal of the Year in 2014 and the deal was “Commended” by the Financial Times in 2014.
Michelle earned her J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School (2007), where she served as a comments editor on the Law Review. She received her B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in linguistics and philosophy (2004).
