The globalization of medical care has led to countless cross-border opportunities for U.S. and foreign providers alike looking to use telemedicine to tap into international expertise or capabilities or expanded patient populations. Along with these opportunities come the challenges of dealing with varying and sometimes contradictory regulatory frameworks, where issues like licensure, data privacy and security, product liability and standard of care take on a whole new meaning in the international context.
