Getting on Board: Perspectives for Women on Becoming Effective Corporate Directors
With the SEC’s new focus on board diversity, the time is ripe to remedy the underrepresentation of women on corporate boards. Whether you are a woman who currently sits on a corporate board or who aspires to do so, we invite you to join us on May 20, 2010 for the inside perspective on how to move into the boardroom as a director and how to perform effectively once you get there. Building on our April 21, 2010, Trends in the Recruitment and Selection of Directors Web conference described below, attendees learned about the recruiting and selection process for directorships as well as the expectations of individuals who serve on corporate boards from current and former directors, corporate executives, and board advisors. Topics included:
- How companies search for the “right” director
- How to best present yourself as a director candidate
- Director fiduciary duties and responsibilities
- Director liability and indemnification issues
- Recent SEC and regulatory changes impacting the recruiting and retention of directors
