The presentation session will explain several business models and contract structures telehealth providers (whether originating or distant sites) should consider deploying in their arrangements. Too many telehealth arrangements fail during the contracting stage, and despite the best intentions and quality technology, utilization is lower than desired. This session will use graphics and diagrams to explain the contract structures, and offer attendees insightful strategies learned in the field. It will be targeted to the policy landscape of the seven NRTRC states, which have different needs than other states due to a more rural population and comparatively unfriendly commercial coverage laws.
The Northwest Regional Telehealth Resource Center provides technical assistance in developing Telehealth networks and applications to serve rural and underserved communities. The NRTRC leverages the collective expertise of 41 Telehealth networks in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming to share information and resources and develop new Telehealth programs. The NRTRC provides technical assistance for new programs and applications, increases exposure to Telehealth as a health care delivery tool, improves access to specialty care through regional collaboration, develops information on best practices and Telehealth toolkits, and provides information and facilitates discussion of regional regulatory, policy, and reimbursement issues.
