Thomas Scannell is a partner in Foley & Lardner’s Dallas office. Tom is a member of the Financial Restructuring and Reorganization Practice. Since his licensure, he has devoted his practice to helping clients solve complex problems with distressed commercial assets. Tom’s practice focuses on the restructuring of companies in and out of bankruptcy, debtors’ rights, committee representation, trustee representation, creditors’ rights, landlord’s rights, and representing debtor-in-possession financers. Tom counsels his clients on out-of-court workouts, turnarounds, wind downs, and the acquisition and divestiture of distressed assets. Tom regularly represents a broad spectrum of firm clients in a wide range of insolvency-based litigation, including Chapter 5 causes of action, lender liability litigation, and receivership proceedings. Tom enjoys counseling clients on navigating intricate insolvency issues in structuring complex commercial transactions, including the avoidance of fraudulent transfers, preparing bankruptcy remote special purpose entities, and the defense of true sale credit facilities.
