Who's Watching? Strategic, Legal and Operational Issues for Long Term Care Facilities Considering Video Surveillance Monitoring
Nathaniel Lacktman and Jonathon Cohn co-authored the article, “Who’s Watching? Strategic, Legal and Operational Issues for Long Term Care Facilities Considering Video Surveillance Monitoring,” which appeared in the Summer 2007 issue of ABA’s Health Law Litigation. Recently, there has been a surge in the use of video surveillance at long term care facilities as a result of growing regulatory scrutiny and elder abuse verdicts. Although the use of such technology is voluntary, there are several issues that need to be considered before providers decide to offer this option to their residents. In this article, Lacktman and Cohn address several of these questions that providers must consider, such as advantages, laws and permits, hurdles and policies.
