On October 17, Foley welcomed 60 new associates to the firm. The group joined more than a dozen different practice areas across 17 of Foley’s offices.
To help the new hires begin integrating into the firm, Foley hosted a three-day, in-person orientation program in Dallas. During this time, the associates learned about life at Foley, met and networked with each other, and enjoyed a variety of fun activities in the Lone Star State.
The agenda for New Associate Orientation featured a welcome from Foley Chairman and CEO Daljit Doogal, who shared the firm’s strategic plan and market position as well as his own early experiences as an attorney. Several other firm leaders and members of Foley’s Associates Committee also shared their insights with the attendees.
The orientation included valuable sessions on career development, diversity, and pro bono initiatives at the firm; business development and client interaction best practices; firm operations and practice management tips; and professional responsibility expectations. On the last day of the program, the associates were divided into three breakout sessions based on their departments — Corporate, Intellectual Property, and Litigation — and had the opportunity to hear from department leadership and participate in more substantive training in their designated practice area.
There were also several social events that allowed the new associates to get to know each other and their Foley colleagues. These activities included an exercise boot camp, a welcome happy hour hosted by the firm’s Dallas office, and department-specific dinners. The marquee event was the State Fair of Texas, where the group went on a scavenger hunt, sampled the winning fried food creations, and experienced the Top O’ Texas Tower, the fair’s tallest ride.
The programming, collaboration, and comradery of New Associate Orientation provided our newest associates their first glimpse of why our people are #HappyatFoley.
