Firm Demonstrates Commitment to City by Opening Second Los Angeles Office; Downtown Office to Focus on Corporate, Litigation, Century City Office to Focus on IP, Entertainment.
Foley announced today that it will expand services in Los Angeles by opening an office downtown in addition to its existing Century City office. The establishment of a second Los Angeles office is the latest phase of the firm’s strategic plan to increase presence in key markets consistent with its national practice strategy.
“Our west side office is of strategic importance to the growth of our IP and entertainment practices, and it continues to flourish. But after serving clients in Los Angeles for more than a decade, we determined the expansion of our corporate and litigation practices would benefit from a downtown location, particularly in light of the area’s tremendous growth and importance as a hub to the business and legal communities ” said Ralf Boer, chairman and CEO of Foley.
“Having two offices to serve these needs will strengthen the foundation to expand our national platform in this important market,” Boer said.
The firm will initially occupy 52,722 square feet on two floors in City National Plaza at 555 S. Flower Street, with expansion options to accommodate future growth. Jack Lasater, who currently serves as managing partner of the Century City office, will also manage the downtown office which is expected to open this fall. Foley currently has approximately 70 attorneys in Los Angeles.
The firm’s plans to expand its litigation and corporate practices in Los Angeles are already underway with news of Assistant United States Attorney Jaime Guerrero and Business law attorney Craig Wood both joining Foley last month.
Foley has had a presence in Los Angeles since 1996 when the firm merged with Weissburg and Aronson, Inc. The addition of the downtown office brings the firm’s worldwide office total to 20 with seven offices in California. The firm also recently announced plans to open a Shanghai office.
City National Plaza is owned by Thomas Properties Group. In the transaction Lisa St. John, Peter Best and Steve Steinmeyer of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Foley.
