Foley is pleased to announce that Nancy J. Sennett has been named a 2011 Wisconsin Law Journal Woman in the Law. Each year, this prestigious honor recognizes female attorneys who have achieved excellence in their fields, influenced other women to pursue legal careers and opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings that were historically closed to women.
With over 30 years of experience as a successful litigator, Ms. Sennett is well recognized as a leader and trailblazer in her field. Her leadership positions at Foley have been at the highest levels of firm governance. As the first woman to serve on the firm’s Management Committee, Ms. Sennett served a nine-year term during which she contributed to strategic planning and practice expansion decisions for the firm. She is also the first female to have served as managing partner of the Milwaukee office, a role she held for nearly ten years. Additionally, Ms. Sennett founded and initially chaired the Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practice, which has since grown into a team of nearly 50 attorneys and is nationally recognized for its extensive federal securities enforcement experience. These accomplishments merely provide a snapshot of Ms. Sennett’s extensive list of management roles and responsibilities.
Ms. Sennett is also deeply devoted to providing mentoring leadership, particularly to further the advancement of women. She makes it a point to provide opportunities to female attorneys on her cases, opens doors for them to get involved in community activities and guides them to achieve professional success and work/life balance. Thanks to her efforts, Foley’s female attorneys have received recognitions such as Wisconsin Women in the Law, “40 Under 40” and the Association for Women Lawyers Community Involvement Award. Her passion for empowering women is also reflected in her own community involvement. In particular, she was instrumental in founding After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD), an organization that provides invaluable resources to breast cancer survivors and their families, and has contributed to its expansion through nearly a decade of board service.
Through her extraordinary record of professional accomplishments, lengthy list of significant management roles and dedication to mentoring women, Ms. Sennett truly personifies the criteria for this prominent recognition. We sincerely congratulate her for being chosen as a 2011 Wisconsin Law Journal Woman in the Law.
