Partner Craig Florence Discusses Dallas High-Dollar Jury Verdicts with Law360

Recently, Dallas juries have seemingly been on a kick of awarding high-dollar verdicts to plaintiffs in business disputes. Law360 spoke with Gardere Litigation Partner Craig B. Florence about this trend. Mr. Florence noted that local juries, often comprised of professionals with advanced educations who have an understanding of business deals, are more willing to uphold the rights of corporations.
"Jurors look at the deal the parties negotiated, and with few exceptions, enforce it," Mr. Florence said. "In my experience, juries don't want to let the parties retrade the deal at the courthouse."
