Lacktman Contributes to American Health Lawyers Association Guidebook on Telemedicine
25 January 2017
Nathaniel Lacktman, chair of the firm’s Telemedicine and Virtual Care Practice and co-chair of the firm’s Digital Health group, was a contributing author to the new guidebook, Telemedicine: What It Is and How It May Affect You, published by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). The guidebook was created through AHLA’s Public Interest program, which has a mission of serving as a public resource by providing free, high-quality information that addresses health law issues. Lacktman serves as co-chair of AHLA’s Telemedicine and eHealth Affinity Group, and was part of a team of professionals who prepared the guidebook.
With the demand for health services growing disproportionately to the supply, the role of telemedicine is becoming increasingly important. Telemedicine technologies can expand access to health care by allowing patients to interact directly and in real time with their provider using technology from their home or from a convenient provider setting. The guidebook is a consumer-friendly resource that will help patients better understand what telemedicine is, how it can help improve delivery of health care, how a patient can access telemedicine services, the risks and benefits of using telemedicine services, and how health insurance generally treats telemedicine services in terms of coverage.
