As the need for international legal counsel continues to grow, Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Andres Alvarez as a foreign legal consultant in the Firm’s Dallas office. Mr. Alvarez previously worked in Gardere’s Mexico City office from 1999 to 2011.

As a foreign legal consultant, Mr. Alvarez is certified by the Supreme Court of Texas to provide legal services in the manner, and to the extent, that he is permitted to practice law in Mexico. Mr. Alvarez focuses his practice on commercial matters, corporate and transactional law, as well as international trade and customs. He also brings broad experience in the technology, financial consumer, hospitality and industrial sectors.
Mr. Alvarez previously served as general counsel and compliance officer at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center in Mexico. While in this position, he was involved in the organization’s due diligence and corporate compliance programs. Prior to that role, Mr. Alvarez worked in legal management at PepsiCo Group, where he drafted, reviewed, supervised and negotiated more than 3,000 agreements for the organization’s business units throughout Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
