Lacktman to Speak at HIMSS18 on Legal and Regulatory Opportunities in Telemedicine
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Nathaniel Lacktman will speak at the 2018 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on the continued expansion of telemedicine and digital health programs and the legal considerations necessary to consider when developing new programs. His session, “Behavioral Health: A Launchpad for Enterprise Telehealth,” will be held on March 6, 2018 at 4:00 pm PT.
Lacktman, chair of Foley & Lardner’s Telemedicine Industry Team and co-chair of the Digital Health Group, will speak alongside Sarah Sossong, Senior Director of the Center for TeleHealth at Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass General). Sossong and Lacktman will discuss Mass General’s telehealth program evolution through the lens of a single service line, behavioral health. Lacktman will also discuss the current regulatory framework facing telemedicine providers and necessary legal considerations.
“Sweeping state and federal legislative changes over the last five years have brought the telehealth industry from infancy to adolescence, and 2018 will be a landmark inflection point,” said Lacktman. “There are many opportunities for hospitals, health systems, and entrepreneurs to both establish and grow vibrant telemedicine offerings and this session will offer insight on how to do so.”
